WWF Smackdown
January 25, 2001
The show begins with a brief highlight package of Raw. We cut to the arena where Triple H stands in the ring. He talks about being attacked by The Radicalz on Monday and says that they will all be fired if they lay a finger on him again. "Here Comes the Money" hits and Shane McMahon walks out onto the stage. Triple H looks shocked. Shane tells him that at No Way Out he will be defending his WWF title against either Shane or Chris Benoit! Triple H says that Shane has absolutely no power in this company. Shane smirks as Linda McMahon slides into the ring and hits Triple H with a lowblow. The crowd goes wild.
Billy Gunn def. Road Dogg via pinfall. Afterwards, the two shook hands.
Backstage, E&C are warming up for their tag team title defense later tonight against The Acolytes. Edge says that he will take Farooq out before the match and they can have their way with Bradshaw.
Hulk Hogan is in his locker room when Steven Richards walks in. Hulk greets him with a handshake and Steven asks him if he'd be willing to be his tag team partner. Hulk says that he loves helping the new talent and tells Steven that he must defeat Val Venis later tonight in order to prove his worth.
Lita def. Terri via pinfall. Afterwards, she motioned that the Women's title would be around her waist at No Way Out.
Michael Cole stands by with Kai-En-Tai. He asks them something but they do not understand. The two begin speaking in Japanese and are apparently arguing. Sho Funaki makes a championship gesture and Taka Michinoku shoves him. Funaki shoves him back. The two begin a small brawl which is quickly broken up by security.
E&C def. The Acolytes via pinfall from Edge on Bradshaw to retain the World Tag Team titles.
Steven Richards def. Val Venis via pinfall. After the match, Hulk Hogan came out and shook Richards's hand.
Scott Hall is shown watching the monitor as Chris Benoit makes his entrance.
Shane McMahon def. Chris Benoit via pinfall with some help from Scott Hall.
